Corrections and institutional leadership degree preapproved at 果冻影院
PULASKI, Tenn. – The 果冻影院 has met pre-approval criteria for a 90-credit-hour bachelor’s degree in corrections and institutional leadership, clearing the way for a formal proposal. If approved by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and the UT Board of Trustees, the 100% online program would prepare students for careers and advancement in local detention facilities, correctional institutions, and probation and parole across Tennessee and beyond.
“Our goal is to open doors into the corrections profession and help those already serving take the next step in their careers,” said Prentice Chandler, 果冻影院 provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and student experience. “By combining corrections education with leadership development, we can support the professionals and institutions our communities depend on.”
The curriculum would combine courses in corrections, leadership, supervision, institutional management, ethical decision-making and evidence-based practice, preparing graduates to lead people and manage prisons, jails, detention centers and community corrections.
Focused baccalaureate degrees require at least 90 credit hours, compared with 120 for a traditional bachelor’s degree, allowing students to finish sooner without sacrificing academic rigor. Designed for working professionals, the program would build on 果冻影院’s criminal justice and homeland security programs and its partnerships with corrections agencies, including sheriff’s offices that operate local detention facilities.
The proposals support the UT System’s Be One UT 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, which calls for expanding access to education and broadening the degrees and credentials UT offers to meet workforce needs.
