As a student in our immersive Biology program, you can explore the wonders of life through five distinct concentrations: Agricultural Science, Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology, General Biology, Licensure in Grades 6-12, and Wildlife Biology and Ecology. Each pathway is crafted to ignite your curiosity and prepare you for a fulfilling career in the biological and agricultural sciences.

The new Agricultural Science concentration empowers students with hands-on learning in agronomy, livestock and animal science, agronomy, plant science, soil science, and sustainable crop production, preparing graduates for impactful careers in the modern agricultural workforce. The Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology concentration propels students into cutting-edge research roles across academia, industry, and healthcare. Further, the General Biology concentration offers a broad foundation for academia, healthcare, and environmental science careers. Another option is to pursue a Biology degree with teaching credentials in ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s Grissom School of Education, which will provide a foundation for success in the classroom, leading science clubs, or advocating for STEM education initiatives. In Wildlife Biology and Ecology, you’ll dive into the intricate ecosystems of our planet, studying how to conserve and manage our natural resources. Graduates often find themselves in diverse and rewarding careers, from protecting endangered species to working in fisheries.

At ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, we value undergraduate research. Guided by dedicated faculty, students explore areas like molecular genetics, ecosystem dynamics, agriculture, and sustainability. You may even present your work at significant science conferences, paving the way for future success!

You’ll engage in BIO444 Independent Research, collaborating with faculty and showcasing your findings at events like Showcase Day and the Tennessee Academy of Science. You can also gain hands-on experience through BIO498 Biology Internships, which offer opportunities to work directly with regional agricultural producers, local and regional businesses, and the state of Tennessee. Our Biology and Sustainability Clubs enhance learning and promote environmental stewardship during Earth Week and beyond. Overall, the program encourages active engagement and collaboration.
