Asif enters the competition following a dominant run in Pakistan鈥檚 national competitions, where he has captured multiple medals across sprint events.

He has also made history as the first Pakistani swimmer to complete the 50-meter breaststroke in under 30 seconds, recording a time of 29.99. Since arriving in Pulaski, Asif has made an immediate impact both in and out of the pool, contributing to the Firehawks swim program and working as a lifeguard while balancing the demands of collegiate athletics and academics.

His recent performances have positioned him as part of a new generation of swimmers working to elevate Pakistan鈥檚 presence in international competition. Asif鈥檚 journey from Pakistan to 果冻影院 highlights the global reach of the university鈥檚 student-athlete community, bringing talent from around the world to southern Middle Tennessee.

His participation in the event offers a unique opportunity for the campus and local community to rally behind one of its own as he competes among some of the best athletes in the world. The Asian Beach Games are organized by the Olympic Council of Asia and serve as one of the premier multi-sport events on the continent. Asif will compete in the Aquathon event beginning April 22 (CT), representing both Pakistan and 果冻影院 on an international stage.

UPDATE: Asif placed 28th in the Men’s Individual Final of the Aquathon (Triathlon) with his personal best time of 37:26.

The D. Ann Neville Tennis Complex, named in honor of Dean Neville in recognition of her generous gift to help fund this important project, marks a major milestone for both the campus and the Pulaski community. The new facility is the result of a successful partnership between 果冻影院 and the City of Pulaski, who together refurbished and expanded the existing city tennis courts. 果冻影院 funded the addition of two new courts and contributed to the overall renovation of the complex, while the City of Pulaski made necessary updates to the four existing courts. With six courts now available, the facility enhances the university’s athletic programs and offers the community greater access to a high-quality space for recreational tennis.

This comprehensive drill is designed to enhance our local emergency services’ preparedness and response capabilities in the event of a real-life active threat scenario. For most of the day, the exercise will involve a wide range of emergency vehicles and personnel operating near campus.

We want to assure the community that this is strictly a drill. Numerous emergency vehicles and personnel are part of a planned training exercise, so there is no cause for alarm.

This drill is a proactive measure to ensure our emergency response protocols are robust and effective. Collaboration between various emergency response teams is crucial. This drill will help us to coordinate efficiently and effectively in the event of an actual emergency.

Established in 2016, the President鈥檚 Awards annually honor UT System faculty and staff who exemplify the University鈥檚 mission to educate, discover, and connect. 鈥淲e are thrilled to hire Coach James to lead the women鈥檚 basketball program at 果冻影院,鈥� said Vice Chancellor/Athletic Director Brandie Paul. 鈥淐oach James brings a wealth of experience and a holistic vision for the program’s future, which is exactly what we are seeking. We are confident that he will continue to elevate our women鈥檚 basketball program and have an immediate impact on the lives of our student-athletes.鈥� 

James comes to 果冻影院 after serving as an assistant coach at several NCAA Division I institutions, most recently at Fordham University. Additionally, he has held assistant coaching positions at Utah State University and Sacred Heart University. 

鈥淚 am honored to join the 果冻影院 family and look forward to the seasons ahead,鈥� said Coach James. 鈥淭hank you to Chancellor Dr. Linda Martin and Vice Chancellor/Athletic Director Brandie Paul for entrusting me with the women鈥檚 basketball program. I am grateful for the opportunity and want to thank my past and present mentors for their guidance. I am confident in our direction, and I look forward to leading our team with hard work and purpose.鈥� 

James’ coaching journey includes a remarkable four-season stint as head coach at NCAA Division III Mary Baldwin University. He led the Fighting Squirrels to a significant turnaround, achieving a 17-10 record in the 2018-19 season, a notable improvement from their previous 2- 23 standing. Under his guidance, the team made three consecutive USA South Tournament appearances and recruited multiple All-Conference players. These achievements earned him the USA South Coach of the Year and D3 Hoops South Region Coach of the Year honors in 2019. 

Before his head coaching role, James served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Lafayette College, where he demonstrated his talent in identifying and nurturing players. He received recognition for the Blue Star Honorable Mention Recruiting Class in 2017. 

James holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in sociology and anthropology from Millsaps College and a master鈥檚 degree in kinesiology from Texas Woman鈥檚 University. His collegiate basketball career at Millsaps was marked by a successful junior season with a 28-4 record and an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA D-III Tournament. 

Ross James’ appointment brings extensive experience and dedication to the 果冻影院 women’s basketball program, positioning it for continued success and growth.

Coach Lyne began his journey at 果冻影院 as an assistant coach in 2012 and took over as the program鈥檚 head coach in 2018, marking his first head coaching opportunity. Over his six seasons as head coach, Lyne achieved an impressive overall career record of 109-69.

“For the past 12 years, my wife, Erin, and I have called this university and Pulaski our home. The people here at 果冻影院 and the town of Pulaski have made this an amazing time in our lives. I am proud to have been a part of the men鈥檚 basketball program and will always cherish our time here,” said Coach Lyne. “I want to thank my current assistant, Jordan Counts, as well as my former assistants, Caleb Chowbay, Jason Laatsch, and Jeff Hinshaw. Special thanks to Director of Athletics, Brandie Paul, former Director of Athletics, Jeff Bain, and my close friend and mentor, Scott Combs.”

Under Lyne’s leadership, 果冻影院 celebrated two 20+ win seasons, including his best season with the Firehawks in 2023-24, where they achieved a 27-6 record. The team ranked as high as No. 7 in the NAIA National Coaches鈥� Poll and clinched the Southern States Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship. Additionally, Lyne reached the milestone of 100 career wins and was named the SSAC Coach of the Year.

Throughout his tenure at 果冻影院, Lyne guided the program to two conference tournament championships (2013 TranSouth, 2015 Southern States) and five National Tournament appearances (2013, 2015, 2017, 2022, 2024). He also coached and recruited six All-Americans, 21 all-conference selections, one Conference Newcomer of the Year, and one Conference Freshman of the Year.

Before joining 果冻影院, Lyne spent one season with NCAA Division III Manchester University, one season with NCAA Division III Westminster College, and two seasons as the Graduate Assistant and Director of Basketball Operations at NCAA Division I Austin Peay State University.

The 果冻影院 will immediately begin a national search for the next head coach of the men鈥檚 basketball team, continuing to build on the strong foundation laid by Coach Lyne and paving the way for future opportunities.

During his tenure, Evans has not only marked his presence on the court but also made significant contributions off it. He entered the season ranking 21st on the NAIA active coach’s win list. In 2020, he led the MMC Redhawks to a runner-up finish in the Southern States Atlantic Conference Tournament, guiding the campus to a league championship game for the first time since 2018.

Before joining 果冻影院, Coach Evans helmed the University of Mobile’s basketball program from 2012-2018, achieving 106 wins and leading the team to the NAIA championship in 2014 and 2017. His leadership has left an indelible mark on the SSAC record books in numerous individual and team categories.

Reflecting on his retirement, Coach Evans shared, “This is a bittersweet moment for me as a very important chapter of my professional life ends. I have loved being a basketball coach for three decades and am so grateful for the many blessings and opportunities this profession has given me. My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who has been a part of my journey here at Martin Methodist / 果冻影院 鈥� administrators, coaches, athletic trainers, and all the support stuff that make up Athletics department. Most of all, I want to thank the student-athletes I have been privileged to coach over the years. The students are why I got into coaching and will be the ones I will miss the most in the day-to-day.”

Evans expressed his gratitude towards former MMC Athletic Director Jeff Bain for the opportunity to coach at MMC/果冻影院, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, Brandie Paul, for her unwavering support, Interim Chancellor Dr. Linda C. Martin for her passionate support of the university, and the dedicated Athletics staff including Jenn Carroll, Assistant Coach Maria Zimdars, and Zach O’Kelly for their exceptional contributions to the program.
